Do you Know, without breathing, human will die in just few minute? Cells and tissues will be paralyzed because they do not obtain energy to live and do activities. So, actually, when you are breathing, you are struggling for your life. The miracle of breathing and respiratory system make your life more ”live”.
Inside The body of human and animal, the chemical energy in
food can be used after having been oxidated. The process of producing energy
through oxidation of food in cells is called cell respiration. Cell respiration
comprises of aerob respiration and anarob respiration. Aerob respiration is a
process of breaking down (burning) food by oxygen (02). Anaerob respiration is
a breaking down process of food with every small amount of oxygen. Generally,
It occurs in microbe, i.e. fungi
Respiratory system in human
When we are breathing, we inhale air (inspiration) and exhale air (expiration). As the air enters the lungs, O2 and CO2 gas exchange takes place and it is called external respiration. The blood that contains a lot of O2 will go into the tissues. Gas exchange occurring between blood and tissue fluid is called internal respiration. The incoming oxygen in cells will be used to produce energy (ATP) and the process is called cell respiration.
INFO
Respiratory system organs start to develop when a fetus is still about 2.5 cm long. The development is completed when is has been 28 weeks old. A fetus cannot breathe inside womb, but it inhales oxygen and exales carbon dioxide through placenta. When it is born, its circulatory and respiratory system start working. The first breath is the most difficult thing for it to do because its lungs are filled with amniotic fluid. The fruid will flow out due to blood pressure. That is why we always see a newly born baby crying.

Respiratory Organs
Respiratory organs in human are nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, lungs, bronchus, bronchioles, and alveolus.
1.Nasal Cavity
Nassal cavity is the first site where air enters the body. The air is filtered by nasal cavity’s hairs and warmed in nasal chamber to adjust body temperature. The smell of the air entering the body is recognized by the sense of smell and then the air goes into pharynx.
2. Pharynx
Pharynx is the meeting point between respiratory tract and digestive tract. In pharynx, there is nasal cavity valve called uvula. Then, the air goesinto larynx.
3. Larynx
Larynx is the opening of oesophagus. Larynx is comprised of cartilage that form adam’s apple. The lower end of oesophagus can be closed by valve of oesophagus lower end (epiglottis). In the epiglottis, There lies the vocal cord.
4. Trachea
Trachea (windpipe) is the respiratory tract having pipe shaped which consist of cartilage rings with 10 cm in length.
5. Lungs
Lung are covered by a membrane called pleura. Pleura consist of inner membrane (visceral pleura) and outer membrane (pariental pleura). The right lung has there lobes, while the left lung has two lobes. Each lobe is divided into lobules and each lobule has bronchioles that have similar number as the number of alveoli.
6. Bronchi and Bronchioles
Bronchi and bronchiolus are the branches of trachea. Bronchi branches into right and left bronchi. Right bronchi branches into three bronchioles, while left brounchi branches into two bronchioles. Each bronchioles vessel ends in alveoli.
7. Alveoli
Alveoli is the end of respiratory tract built by simple squamous ephithelium. Alveoli has a very thin and elastic wall. At the outer surface, there are many blood capillaries that allow the exchange of O2 and Co2 through diffusion. There are more than 300 milion alveoli in lungs.
