2013 Transplant Rejection Hyperacute Acute And Chronic |
Immune system recognizes and attacks
anything that is normally different from the compound in a person’s body, even
if the difference is only a little, such as transplanted organs and tissues.
Transplant rejection can be devided into three categories, hyperacute, acute,
and chronic rejection.
Hyperacute Rejection
This type of rejection occurs immediately
after transplantation is conducted, i.e. kidney transplantation. Hyperacute
rejection can be overcome by transplanting organ to recipient having the some
blood type as the blood type of the donor.
Acute Rejection
Acute rejection usually begins in
several days after transplantation. To overcome this problem, the recipient is
given certain drugs, such as cyclosporine which influences recipient respond of
MHC molecule toward the donor.
Chronic Rejection
Chronic rejection occurs because the
transplanted organ loose its function caused by the clotting blood in the
organ’s vessel.
