Electron Transport |
Basically, electron transport is electron and hydrogen ion (H+) removal. The electron is carried by NADH and FADH from one substrate to other substrate and ATP is formed through oxidative phosphorylation process. oxidative phosphoryIation is a process in which inoiganic phosphate group is added to ADP molecule. In electron transport process, oxygen plays the role as the Last electron acceptor Derived from 2 hydrogen ions (H+) to form water molecule (H2O). Water is one of the final product of cellular respiration.
NADH and FADH also function as the reducer compounds that produce hydrogen ion. Every NADH molecule entering electron transport chain will produce 3 ATP molecules and each of FADH, Molecule will produce 2 ATP molecules.
