Cell is divided in two major groups, prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Those cells have plasma membrane and cytoplasm. Compared to eukaryotic, prokaryotic has no nucleus, but it has nucleoid (simple nucleus with out membrane nucleus) and looses some organelles the real difference between prokaryotic is more apparent. Organelle of prokaryote has no membrane such as in eukaryotic. All metabolism processes of eukaryotic occur I cytoplasm. The prokaryotic structure can be see above:
THE STRUCTURE OF PROKARYOTIC CELL
Structure | Consists of |
Outer layer | Cell wal, Cell membrane |
Cytoplasm | Ribosome, thyllakoid (cyanobacteria) |
Nucleoid | Enzyme, chromosome (DNA) |
Generally, eukaryotic cell has very small size. Most of the cell are smaller than 1 mm, some of them in fact has 1/1,000 millimeter (1ų) in size . The content of cell and macromoleculeis even smaller than micrometer and measured in nanometer (nm)
